In a fit of alarming prescience I took this last December on a visit to Bristol. I haven't been close to a city since.
This was how I framed it in the camera, a bit of visual humour based around the sign. How apt then to processed it for this week's Smile on Saturday group's theme Dutch Angle.
Now, should I have kept the streetlamp in or not....
Also for my 100x Monochrome and Toned challenge, but not, alas, suitable for my 20-minute edit challenge :)
Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy some fun today. Happy Smile on Saturday, and 100x :)

Californian Poppy.
This year was the first time I had grown Californian poppies, and they proved themselves to be incredibly good value. They repeat-flowered for ages and the floaty, rich orange blooms were a photographer’s delight.
This was taken in August. It had been raining.
This is for the Macro Wednesday group today, and monochromed for my 100x project. I must do an orange rendition of these flowers once the project is complete!
Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image! Happy Mittwochsmakro and 100x :)

There was a time when orchids were rare exotic houseplants. These days though they are two and sixpence an assorted dozen at the supermarket, at least for these common varieties.
But they remain beautiful and intriguing plants, and the flowers last for ages.
This one was a gift from family in Hong Kong that graced the fireplace with its beauty for some months last year. I think I was messing around with the camera and a macro attachment or something... it's a jpeg image rather than a raw one for some reason.
I tried a square crop concentrating on the twiddly bits. It's for this week's Macro Wednesday group offering and also for my monochrome 100x project.
The colour version is probably more attractive (I may publish this another time) but the mone creates an abstract feel which you may find interesting - and you may find a face too :)
Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy Macro Wednesday and 100x :)

I spotted these spent poppies in my daughter's garden. Did you need to know that? I doubt it. But my excuse is that it adds colour... which is now distinctly lacking in the image :)
For the Donnertagsmonochrom group and also my 100x Monochrome and Tinted challenge. (I'd almost caught up with the 100x, sigh.)
Less than 20 minute edit. Yeay!
Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image :)

Aircraft condensation trail.
My home sits under one of the main air corridors to North America. In normal times, on a clear day, you might see six or more aircraft at once (flying at forty thousand feet you can see them for 30 to 50 miles). And if the atmospheric conditions are right the condensation trails look like aerial basket weaving.
Not so these days - it’s unusual to see even three at once.
This was taken on my walk yesterday shortly after one pm. It was a good day for the trails as there was very little movement in the jet stream.
This is the United Airlines flight 954 from San Francisco to Tel Aviv. It’s a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner flying at just under 39,000 feet so it was 7.4 miles directly up from me, taken with my macro lens.
I’ve sometimes wondered why one con trail is shorter than the other, but I’ve just worked out that one is probably in shadow so we can’t see it until it clears the plane. Ok I can go back to sleep now ;)
Monochromed for my 100x project.
Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy 100x :)
