Chrysanthemum flowers.
This straight version is for you if you like photo-reality :) You can also play spot-the-fly (there is at least one as I eventually discovered - but can you find it?).
This tub of Chrysanthemum (I never can type that quickly lol) flowers is about six feet from where I sit just now. The image was taken about six weeks ago when they were in full (if foolish for the time of year) flow.
This was processed in DxO Photolab for a strong range of colour, to act as a good source for later mangling in Affinity Photo.
But with this one, I took it into Photoshop and then experimented with the colour grading using an addon called Infinite Color Panel (a fun thing to play with if ever you like messing with colours).

This processing was more complicated though still using blend ranges and an underlying white fill layer.
I then used a Curves layer in LAB mode to change the colours and by dipping and diving the luminosity L channel created the solarised effect. You can see the underlying layer now looks blue-grey.
Finally a bit of brightness adjustment and a soft dark vignette.
This is my choice for Sliders Sunday :) It was an interesting thing to try, though perhaps not the most enthralling endpoint.

This tub of Chrysanthemum (I never can type that quickly lol) flowers is about six feet from where I sit just now. The image was taken about six weeks ago when they were in full (if foolish for the time of year) flow.
I liked the patterns and wanted to try something I've been thinking of for a while now. I was looking to get just the emerging petals emerging from a plain background. I'd seen a similar effect in a flower picture created in Lightroom by my friend m_laRs_k.
In terms of processing it was really quite simple to do, just two layers. I used the picture layer and placed a plain dark blue fill layer underneath it. I then used the Advanced Blending options to set a blend range in the picture layer - this has the effect of only allowing pixels with a certain range of brightnesses to appear - the rest are replaced by the underlying layer (i.e. the blue).
