Abandoned railway wagon.

I found this dilapidated railcar hidden in a local field on a recent walk. It had obviously been there for decades and used by the farmer as a prefabricated shed for storing feed and other things.

I like decayed structures like this because they are full of stories, as well as luscious textures and colours. A pure fantasy-scape for the unbridled imagination…

This is suitably cooked for Sliders Sunday. I’ve created three versions each of which I found interesting as I meandered the filters playpen today. I’ll publish them all but only put this one in the group. They are all quite similar… but different too :)

This is my current favourite, but going on previous experience that’ll only last as long as it takes to write this.

All the versions started from a base version developed in Capture One for the colour range in the decaying paint.

Version I is the most natural I think (almost an HDR effect) using a variety of effects compounded together in Nik Color Effex (pro). I’ve not used this filter much before as I have only just realised what a powerful set of effects it is. Still playing!

This one is Version II. It starts again from the base version. Here I used Topaz Studio with a combination of Glow and Simplify, my two favourite toys in the box. Version II is very similar in style to the Inner Secrets image for the group last week. I was aiming for something fairly subtle - you can see the effect most strongly in the form of the branches and grass.

For Version III I also used Topaz Studio, but this time the Impression filter which gives a strong textured painterly effect.

As ever, I shall post a link to the in-camera original in the first comment so you can see how far we came.

Which do you prefer? It’s always interesting to hear different people’s favourites!

Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the images. Happy Sliders Sunday, and have a good week!
