This was taken in spring a couple of years ago at the Royal Horticultural Gardens in Wisley.
I like flower buds like this as they seem to be full of nascent beauty about to explode. And it's the right time of year to be thinking of Spring exploding forth. I wanted to bring that out in the processing so it's a bit more complicated than usual (and a fun experiment :) )
This is for the macro/close-up theme of the 7 Days With Flickr group. The bud is about an inch across or slightly over.
Thank you for taking time to look, and perhaps comment and fave. Much appreciated. I hope you enjoy the image :)
[Handheld in daylight outdoors. LR: A bit of clarity and vibrance but no saturation boost, reduced noise because this camera struggles a bit. Produced two versions almost identical: dark and light.
The dark version was the base layer: isolated background with and removed it with a mask; filled the background with black. The light layer on top painted in selectively with a mask to emphasise the centre and the radiating lines and add a sense of bursting-out movement (ever hopeful). Sharpened top layer only with Unsharp Mask and clarity to heighten the sense of receding blur.
Increased canvas size, particularly width, and rotated fractionally.]
