This is the beginning of a series highlighting the field next door. When I began my treasure hunt, I discovered that the best part of the field is actually not the back by the woods, but the front by the road. These birds kept soaring over me and landing near by. They particuarly seemed to enjoy eating the seeds of the weeds. Curlyson was able to help me identify this one as a female redwing blackbird.
