The heat from the sun is intense. Many of the people in the village carry umbrellas to deal with the heat. Still, I was dripping sweat and the children were not.

I might say that his anger is born out of poverty and frustration and lack of opportunity, except he is acting out pretty much like many teens here, male and female, who have everything in the world handed to them do. Also, I noted that these children attending school seemed to be getting a good education.

While we ate lunch, Pablo kept the children with whom we were playing out of the church so we could rest, cool off and eat in peace. The students wanted to give their lunches to the children, but our guide said that would be a bad idea. He said it is SCORE's policy to not make a visit from Americans just an opportunity to "get stuff". If we did that it would make the ministry side of the activity almost impossible. Since we could see that these children were healthy and well fed, we didn't feel too badly. Besides, later we did bring bags of groceries, staples such as rice, oil, flavoring, and tuna, and gave them to the parents.

Back to the mission trip shots.
We painted the inside of a church and two houses while visiting the sugarcane village. The sugarcane plant has closed down, so these people needed some help. We cme back two days later with bags of groceries and toys.
