Lucy is agitated, watching us swim and not being able to come down. Every time whe goes to the river, she gets all muddy and has to have a bath before she can be in the house again. When Emily volunteered to be the bath giver, I let Lucy come down.

When Lucy saw me leap in to the river shouting "Geromino!", she became distressed and started pacing and barking. But she couldn't get up the nerve to leap off the bank into the deep water. Finally she went downstream, found a place where she could wade in, swam across and worked her way back to us.

Yesterday (Wednesday) Sam and Aaron were down at the river leaping off the log that Tim had cut down last week - an ash that succumbed to the emerald ash borer. I soon joined them. This is real summer!
