This is one of my favorite paintings. Emily was about 12 when she came in from outdoors with a coreopsis (that's the yellow flower) and began practicing Moonlight Sonata. The painting now hangs above the piano.
In the yard of the parsonage where my mother-in-law lived before her husband retired from the ministry is a patch of beautiful white peonies. Every year she allowed me a beautiful bouquet to take home an enjoy. I tried transplanting some into my garden, but with no success. Finally I settled for a painting to remember them by. BTW, at her new home, she still grows amazing peonies, and mine still barely bloom each year.
This is the river that forms the west boundary of our five acres. It's actually in my back yard. It's usually a lovely peaceful place to go for a walk, but this summer the mosquitos are too thick. This painting is in my living room.
