Some surprises are good. In general you don’t want many surprises when you are out alone at night. I thought this night was a lost cause because of the clouds. I decided to hang around anyway and was pleasantly surprised. The light pollution from a nearby town illuminated the clouds and created a pleasant effect. You can still get a peak of the stars and Milky Way to let you know it’s not just a sunset. These large monolithic rock structures are called Towers and rise majestically from the desert landscape, dominating the surrounding scene. The 4WD high clearance road to get there is also fun. There are a number of these towers scattered throughout the nearby desert landscape, and there are climbing routes for the brave. Stacked image. 20 mm, 10 sec, f/2.8, ISO 10,000. There is Low Level Lightning (LLL). Love those rock rocks of the SW!
