La paleta de colores que ofrece el frondoso bosque de Quinto Real fascina al visitante. Su nombre procede de una tradición del siglo XIII, cuando los monarcas de Navarra recibían la quinta parte de las ganancias de los pastores por el aprovechamiento de los pastos y montes de la zona.
Este inmenso bosque de casi 6.000 hectáreas, bajo la silueta del monte Adi, se encuentra dominado por hayas, castaños, robles y alisos.
Es en pleno otoño cuando Quinto Real muestra su mayor esplendor cromático. La exuberante flora convive con una variada fauna de corzos, gamos y principalmente ciervos. Éstos protagonizan en otoño la berrea, que es la época de celo en la que el ciervo emite sus berridos mientras busca una hembra para aparearse y combate con posibles contrincantes. Los amantes del turismo ornitológico encuentran un enclave generoso en especies pequeñas, como la perdiz, el dorsiblanco, el pito negro o la becada.
El paisaje de Quinto Real está atravesado de norte a sur por el río Arga, que vierte su caudal en el cercano embalse de Eugui.

The color palette offered by the leafy forest of Quinto Real fascinates the visitor. Its name comes from a tradition of the thirteenth century, when the monarchs of Navarre received a fifth of the profits of the shepherds for the use of pastures and mountains in the area.
This immense forest of almost 6,000 hectares, under the silhouette of Mount Adi, is dominated by beech trees, chestnuts, oaks and alders.
It is in autumn, when Quinto Real shows its greatest chromatic splendor. The exuberant flora coexists with a varied fauna of roe-deers, fallow deers and principally deers. These are the protagonists in autumn the bellow, which is the time of zeal in which the deer emits its howls while looking for a female to mate and fight with possible opponents.
Ornithological tourism lovers find a generous enclave in small species, such as the partridge, the white-backed woodpecker, the black woodpecker or the woodcock.
The landscape of Quinto Real is traversed from north to south by the Arga River, which flows into the nearby Eugui reservoir.

Se suceden una serie de cascadas con sus consiguientes pozas de color azul turquesa o verde esmeralda, que hacen que este río sea bautizado con el nombre de Urederra ( cuyo significado en euskera es "agua hermosa"). Recorre 19 kilómetros antes de desembocar en el río Ega, que es afluente del río Ebro.
El color azul turquesa que predomina la mayor parte del año en las pozas, se produce por la gran cantidad de carbonato cálcico y minerales originados por la disolución de las rocas y que el agua deposita en el lecho del río. Ayudado por la reflexión de la luz solar sobre unas aguas carentes de lodo, hace que éstas adquieran una espectacular tonalidad azulada. En cambio, en época de lluvias, el agua desciende con tal virulencia que hace que esos elementos no se depositen en el fondo. Es entonces cuando adquiere el color verde esmeralda.

Successively there is a series of waterfalls followed by turquoise blue or emerald green pools, which cause this river to be baptized with the name of Urederra (whose meaning in Basque is "beautiful water"). It runs 19 kilometers before flowing into the Ega River, which is a tributary of the Ebro River.
The turquoise color that predominates most of the year in the pools, is produced by the large amount of calcium carbonate and minerals originated by the dissolution of the rocks and that the water deposits in the riverbed. Helped by the reflection of sunlight on waters devoid of mud, makes them acquire a spectacular bluish hue. On the other hand, during the rainy season, the water descends with such virulence that these elements are not deposited in the bottom. It is then when it acquires the emerald green color.

La Selva de Irati es un tesoro natural con gran valor ecológico, en el que conviven distintas figuras de protección como las reservas naturales de Mendilatz y Tristuibartea y la reserva integral de Lizardoia.
Tupidos hayedos, pastizales, abetos y frescas aguas pintan un paisaje de colores vivos que se transforma con cada nueva estación.
Es el segundo hayedo-abetal más extenso y mejor conservado de Europa, después de la Selva Negra de Alemania. Una inmensa mancha verde de unas 17.000 hectáreas que se mantiene en estado casi virgen.

The Irati Forest is a natural treasure with great ecological value, in which different protection figures live like the natural reserves of Mendilatz and Tristuibartea, and the integral reserve of Lizardoia.
Dense beech, grassland, fir trees and fresh waters paint a vivid landscape that is transformed with each new season.
It is the second largest and best preserved hayedo-abetal in Europe, after the Black Forest of Germany. An immense green spot of about 17,000 hectares that remains in an almost virgin state.

El Nacedero del río Urederra es la salida natural del acuífero formado en el macizo kárstico de la Sierra de Urbasa. La primera surgencia se produce en un cortado a 700 metros de altitud en el reborde meridional del macizo, originando una impresionante caída de más de 100 metros, que con el transcurso de millones de años ha modelado un anfiteatro rocoso de notable belleza. Es uno de los enclaves más espectaculares de Navarra (declarado reserva natural en 1987).
Mágicos momentos pasamos en este maravilloso lugar. Acompañados durante el recorrido por el murmullo del agua cristalina, la luz que se filtraba entre las hojas de los árboles tiñendo de preciosos colores otoñales el paisaje, el aroma a naturaleza, el silencio, la paz y la energía positiva que se respiraba en este paraíso.

The Nacedero of the Urederra River is the natural outlet of the aquifer formed in the karstic massif of the Sierra de Urbasa. The first upwelling occurs in a cut at 700 meters altitude at the southern edge of the massif, causing an impressive fall of more than 100 meters, that over the course of millions of years has shaped a rocky amphitheater of remarkable beauty. It is one of the most spectacular enclaves of Navarre (declared a natural reserve in 1987).
Magical moments we spent in this wonderful place. Accompanied during the tour by the murmur of crystal clear water, the light that filtered through the leaves of the trees, to dye the landscape with beautiful autumnal colors, the aroma of nature, silence, peace and positive energy that was breathed in this paradise.
