Gordon Haber, a long time wolf biologist in Denali National Park, was killed in a plane crash 7 miles north of the Toklat River on Thursday, 10/15/09. I had met Gordon two times, he was a very caring man who dedicated his life to protecting the wolves of Denali Park and throughout the state of Alaska. He was often ridiculed by many who live here for his love of the wolf. Alaska is the only state in the Union where trapping and arieal gunning of wolves are allowed. In one instance last spring, State biologists killed an entire wolf pack from the air, landed, went to their den and slaughtered the wolf pups.
I have no photos of Gordon, but his spirit lives on in the wolves he loved.
