You can't ask for much more than a perfectly clear evening at the beach for sunset. This was a great night for photography and just enjoying vacation...

Three bracketed photos were taken and combined with Photomatix to create this HDR image. Additional adjustments were made in Photoshop CS5.

Standing in the middle of the pier at Tybee Island, GA, I snapped this photo which is actually three photos combined into this HDR. This was taken first thing in the morning which provided the great sun light seen on the inside of the pier columns.

Three bracketed photos were taken with a tripod mounted Nikon D5000 and combined with Photomatix to create this HDR image. Additional adjustments were made in Photoshop CS4.

“He always thought of the sea as 'la mar' which is what people call her in Spanish when they love her. Sometimes those who love her say bad things of her but they are always said as though she were a woman. Some of the younger fishermen, those who used buoys as floats for their lines and had motorboats, bought when the shark livers had brought much money, spoke of her as 'el mar' which is masculine. They spoke of her as a contestant or a place or even an enemy. But the old man always thought of her as feminine and as something that gave or withheld great favours, and if she did wild or wicked things it was because she could not help them. The moon affects her as it does a woman, he thought.”
― Ernest Hemingway, The Old Man and the Sea

Three bracketed photos were taken with a handheld Nikon D7200 and combined with Photomatix Pro to create this HDR image. Additional adjustments were made in Photoshop CS6.

Engine of the American Airlines Flagship Detroit known as the Wright R-1820 Cyclone 9. It is an American radial engine developed by Curtiss-Wright, widely used on aircraft in the 1930s through 1950s. The R-1820 Cyclone 9 represented a further development of the Wright P-2 engine dating back to 1925 and featured a greater displacement along with a host of other improvements. The R-1820 was at the heart of many famous aircraft including early Douglas airliners (the prototype DC-1, the DC-2, the first civil versions of the DC-3 (as seen here), and the limited-production DC-5), every wartime example of the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress and Douglas SBD Dauntless bombers, the early versions of the Polikarpov I-16 fighter (as the M-25), and the Piasecki H-21 helicopter.

-- General characteristics --
‧ Type: 9-cylinder single-row supercharged air-cooled radial engine
‧ Bore: 6.125 in
‧ Stroke: 6.875 in
‧ Displacement: 1,823 cu in
‧ Length: 47.76 in
‧ Diameter: 54.25 in
‧ Power output: 1,000 hp at 2,200 rpm for takeoff
‧ Compression ratio: 6.45:1
‧ Supercharger: Single-speed General Electric centrifugal type supercharger, blower ratio 7.134:1

Three bracketed photos were taken with a handheld Nikon D7200 and combined with Photomatix Pro to create this HDR image. Additional adjustments were made in Photoshop CS6 including final conversion to B&W.
