On my desktop computer screen, I am a complete silhouette with no detail, yet when I see this on my iPhone or iPad, I see all kinds of detail in my face and clothing. I prefer the version on my computer rather than the iPad version.

I took Sara, our exchange student from Spain, on a hike to my favorite place in my local Los Padres National forest. Along the way we had scattered showers and small hail. At one point there was a rainbow. The Sespe Creek has more water in it now than I have ever seen, thanks to two exceptionally wet years in a row.

In my opinion this is my best photo in a while; the sharp jagged talus, the last light shining on the gathering of pines, the soft mountain slopes rising beyond the frame to heights unknown and just a hint of the mist rolling in from the distant ocean beyond the mountains.
