This Pygmy Nuthatch was in a foraging flock of titmice, nuthatches, chickadees and juncos in the Grand Canyon. What is unique about this little bird is that it is the dominant species in these flocks, despite being the smallest. The Pygmy Nuthatch prefers to forage on the branches of trees rather than the trunks, distinguishing it from other species of nuthatch. March 30, 2010.
