A small waterfall along the Rancheria river in The Yukon.

"The Yukon, formerly called Yukon Territory is the smallest and westernmost of Canada's three territories. It also is the least populated province or territory in Canada, with a population of 35,874 people as of the 2016 Census. Whitehorse, the territorial capital, is the largest settlement in any of the three territories.

Yukon was split from the North-West Territories in 1898 as the Yukon Territory. The federal government's Yukon Act, which received royal assent on March 27, 2002, established Yukon as the territory's official name, though Yukon Territory is still popular. In 2021, territorial government policy was changed so that “The Yukon” would be recommended for use in official territorial government materials." Wikipedia

While enjoying the beauty of Yukon's Kluane Lake this unique rig pulled in. What a special camper! I enjoyed visiting with Guillaume and Jenna about their home on the road. They were now living in this small home and experiencing the wide and wild world instead of the usual big home, mortgage and debts. They had built it from scratch themselves. It didn't seem that large on the outside but was quite homey, cozy and comfy on the inside. In many ways nicer and more comfy and complete than my modern truck camper. Impressive trailer and very impressive couple.

Further down the AlCan Highway thru the Donjek and White river sections were the worst roads I've ever experienced. A nightmare driving the dozens of miles of deep deep potholes that could not be avoided. 5-10 mph max without losing teeth. Was worried that their tiny home would shake apart, but was glad to see on line that they did indeed build it strong and sturdy and toured Alaska.

FYI, just google the title and you'll find much information about them and their journeys.

Wouldn't that be a tempting way to experience life?

The marsh grasses at the southern end of Kluane Lake had turned a vibrant yellow and gold. The lake is a prime stopping spot for migrating waterfowl. Sheep mountain in the distance, named for the bighorn sheep that call it home. Just another beauty on the AlCan Highway.

Have a marvelous week!

A typical Yukon view as one drives the AlCan Highway. Many many miles without seeing any signs of man, just Nature all about. I liked that.

Have a wonderful week!

Another stormy day along the AlCan Highway.

The Nisutlin Bay Bridge is the longest bridge on the Alaska Highway with two lanes and seven through truss spans. It spans this narrow section of Teslin Lake.

The village of Teslin is a good place to fuel up. One can go hundreds and hundreds of miles (er kilometers) before seeing another gas station. If one wants to "get away" this is the route to take. Loved it.

Enjoy a wonderful weekend!
