A marshy meadow seen along the Richardson Highway on the way to Fairbanks. Looked for moose. Not this day. Alaska is known for it's voracious and pesky mosquitoes. This looks like a good place for them. I didn't get one bite in the 3 weeks I was there. Didn't even use deet cologne. Was a nice surprise.

Thanks for taking a look! Always appreciated!

Storms rolling in. Was able to get a few shots of the reflections before the placid waters of Little Redfish Lake turned to white caps. What a wild and wicked show it was.

A couple other shots in comments.

Thanks for looking!
Have a marvelous Monday and week ahead.

Something green for St. Patrick's Day.

"May the leprechauns be near you,
To spread luck along your way.
And may all the Irish angels,
Smile upon you on St. Patrick's Day."

Cheers!

I'll be away for a few days. Enjoy the rest of the week and weekend!

While walking along Homer's Spit I saw this old sea warrior. I liked the style and design. Thought at first they were trying to fix it up for a fishing boat. Now wouldn't that be a major project? Instead a family had made this their home. Rather unique huh?

From what I could discern, this ship is a very prominent feature on the Homer Spit, difficult to miss, and well known to the locals. The ship was once upon a time a freighter that had been abandoned in Kachemak Bay. The ship was originally salvaged with the intention of turning it into a restaurant, however the legal red-tape of getting approval from the necessary authorities obstructed the fruition of those plans and instead the ship was converted into a home. Hard to imagine living here thru the bitterly cold Alaskan winters but I heard they do. Alaskan's are hardy indeed!

Thanks for your visit, comments, faves and suggestions. You make my day.

Another natural marvel along Alaska's Glenn Highway. IMHO only Alberta's Icefield Parkway can top this stunning drive.

"Matanuska Glacier is a valley glacier in the US state of Alaska.
At 27 miles (43 km) long by 4 miles (6.4 km) wide, it is the largest glacier accessible by car in the United States. Its terminus feeds the Matanuska River. It lies near the Glenn Highway about 100 miles (160 km) north-east of Anchorage."
