We spent some days in Biei, located in the central region of Hokkaido, Japan. It is a hilly region with nice trees and waterfalls. There is a pond with deep blue water. In winter it is frozen and covered in snow. Only dead tree trunks are visible.
I processed a balanced HDR photo from a RAW exposure, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

We spent some days in Biei, located in the central region of Hokkaido, Japan. It is a hilly region with nice trees and waterfalls. We waded in deep snow to scout interesting trees. This lonely tree stood out, perfect for a minimalistic photo.
I processed a photographic HDR photo from three RAW exposures, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

In February we drove over the Sekihoku Mountain Pass in Hokkaido, Japan. On the way we made a brief stop in Sounkyo, a hot spring resort town that has an ice festival. There are several ice festivals in Hokkaido. They are lit up at night in different colors as a tourist attraction. I prefer the plain look in daytime. A few days later this ice festival was featured in TV news. It was too warm, the ice was melting away, and sections of the park had to be closed off.
I processed a paintery, a balanced, and a photographic HDR photo from three RAW exposures, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

We went to the Gordon Jazz & Sax Bar in Nagoya, Japan. It is very small, just a bar counter, two small tables, and an electric piano. Late at night the owner started to entertain the few guests that were left with a saxophone.
I processed a realistic and a balanced HDR photo from a RAW exposure, blended them selectively, carefully adjusted the color balance and curves, and desaturated the image. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

On the way to the Shiretoko National Park in north-eastern Hokkaido, Japan, we stopped at the Oshinkoshin Waterfall, located at the Sea of Okhotsk coast. Drift ice slowly passes along. The ice originates from the Amur River in Russia, and then drifts through the Sea of Okhotsk to reach Hokkaido typically in mid January to early February before disappearing again around mid March to mid April. I took this shot of the drift ice at low tide just where the creek of the Oshinkoshin Waterfall flows into the ocean. Rocks are covered in thin cracked ice sheets from the creek.
