This image is dedicated to all people who lost their home in the recent CZU Lightning Complex in the San Mateo and Santa Cruz Counties in California. There is a sad story behind each of the 1500 structures that were destroyed. Personally I can’t imagine how it feels like to loose one's home. Especially in this difficult time it is important to find support with loved ones and friends. We wish all of you strength and resilience to rebuild, and overcome the hardship. May phoenix rise from the ashes.

We went into a forest burned by wildfire with a model friend. She threw flour up into the air to create wings.

I processed a realistic and a balanced HDR photo from two RAW exposures, separately for each image, merged them selectively, carefully adjusted the color balance and curves, and desaturated the image. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

After dinner we noticed nice red clouds high up in the sky. I grabbed my gear and raced to a nearby bridge in Cupertino. The red sky was gone by the time arrived at the bridge. It's worthwhile sticking around after sunset. I love the one-point perspective you get with this bridge. For this night shot I used the full frame A7 II with the Canon 50mm f/0.95 "Dream Lens" at f/8.0.

I processed a balanced, a paintery, and a photographic HDR photo from two RAW exposures, merged them selectively, carefully adjusted the color balance and curves, and desaturated the image. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

Last night we had dinner at a pizzeria in Campbell, California, one of the towns in the Silicon Valley. This is a new normal: Blocked of downtown street so that restaurants can use the space for outdoor dining. I kind of like it, downtown now belongs to people, no longer to cars. This is what was already the norm in many European cities for ages, and is just now starting in California thanks to the COVID situation.

I processed two balanced HDR photos from two RAW exposures taken with the Dream Lens fully open at ƒ/0.95, manually focus stacked them, carefully adjusted the curves and color balance, and desaturated the image. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

Today I went to scout for a place in a redwood forest burned by wildfire for a model shoot. I found a suitable place near Boulder Creek, California. Very sad, the CZU Lightning Complex in this area destroyed 86k acres (350 km2) and 1500 structures.

It's an eerie feeling walking in a forest after a wildfire. It look like snow, but it is white ash. In this particular area the fire was raging in the lower parts of the trees. Higher up the trees still had the foliage intact. You can see that some leaves fell on the ashed ground. Life is a cycle. It looks all dead now, but new life will soon emerge. In fact redwood trees depend on wildfires, without fire, they cannot reproduce.

I processed a balanced and a paintery HDR photo from three RAW exposures, merged them, and carefully adjusted the curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.
