Cwm Idwal is a hanging valley in the Glyderau range of mountains in northern Eryri (snowdonia), the national park in the mountainous region of North Wales. Its main interest is to hill walkers and rock climbers, but it is also of interest to geologists and naturalists, given its combination of altitude, aspect and terrain.

A wintry morning view over the twin lakes Llynau Mymbyr, at Capel Curig in Eryri (Snowdonia), North Wales.
In the distance, the snow covered mountains are bathed in the morning sun.
Left in pic, the twin peaks of Y Lliwedd, the three peaks to it's right are (L to R) Yr Wyddfa (snowdon), Crib Goch and Garnedd Ugain.
Combined, these peaks are commonly referred to as the Snowdon horseshoe.
