“Mosaiculture” is a magical word referring to both the accomplished art of glass mosaic and the sophisticated origins of artistic horticulture. In fact, contemporary mosaiculture traces its roots back to the Renaissance, a glorious epoch of grand royal gardens. Today, it has evolved into an art of unprecedented forms. Mosaiculture is the most spectacular of all the horticultural techniques. Now considered an art in its own right, it is the successful blend of several disciplines: sculpture, whose principles apply to its structures; painting, reflected in its palette; and horticulture, expressed through its use of the ever-changing medium of living plants. Mosaiculture also echoes the spirit of our times through its application of eco-friendly methods and techniques.

Vieste is known as the ‘capital’ of the Gargano. The town, which has a population of approximately 12,000 and is on the easternmost part of the peninsula, plays host during the summer to thousands of tourists who bathe on one of the glorious beaches during the day and take a wander in the pleasant town centre at night. The Gargano that is today a tourist’s paradise was once part of an isolated area and was usually only visited by pilgrims heading towards the shrine at Monte Sant’Angelo.Explore the town further and its appeal really comes to light. The centro storico that lies on the rocky point of San Francesco is typically captivating with its charming 11th-century cathedral that was built on the site of a pre-existing church and has a series of steps leading up to its entrance.

Parliament Hill colloquially known as The Hill, is an area of Crown land on the southern banks of the Ottawa River in downtown Ottawa, Ontario. Its Gothic revival suite of buildings serves as the home of the Parliament of Canada and contains a number of architectural elements of national symbolic importance. Parliament Hill attracts approximately 3 million visitors each year. Originally the site of a military base in the 18th and early 19th centuries, development of the area into a governmental precinct began in 1859, after Queen Victoria chose Bytown as the capital of the Province of Canada. Following a number of extensions to the parliament and departmental buildings and a fire in 1916 that destroyed the Centre Block, Parliament Hill took on its present form with the completion of the Peace Tower in 1927.

Located on the central Anatolia plateau within a volcanic landscape sculpted by erosion to form a succession of mountain ridges, valleys and pinnacles known as “fairy chimneys” or hoodoos, Göreme National Park and the Rock Sites of Cappadocia cover the region between the cities of Nevşehir, Ürgüp and Avanos, the sites of Karain, Karlık, Yeşilöz, Soğanlı and the subterranean cities of Kaymaklı and Derinkuyu. The area is bounded on the south and east by ranges of extinct volcanoes with Erciyes Dağ at one end and Hasan Dağ at the other. The density of its rock-hewn cells, churches, troglodyte villages and subterranean cities within the rock formations make it one of the world's most striking and largest cave-dwelling complexes. Though interesting from a geological and ethnological point of view, the incomparable beauty of the decor of the Christian sanctuaries makes Cappadocia one of the leading examples of the post-iconoclastic Byzantine art period.

It is believed that the first signs of monastic activity in Cappadocia date back to the 4th century at which time small anchorite communities, acting on the teachings of Basileios the Great, Bishop of Kayseri, began inhabiting cells hewn in the rock. In later periods, in order to resist Arab invasions, they began banding together into troglodyte villages or subterranean towns such as Kaymakli or Derinkuyu which served as places of refuge.
