Walking back to the SUV from my last shot of the trailhead of Courthouse Butte I turned on the rise and saw this scene of the two stars of the Red Rock fields, Bell Rock and Courthouse Butte with the roadway and trails to define their boundaries and the rain clouds moving in.
There is no stopping along the sides of the main highway through this area and for good reason, the roads are narrow and the parking lots for the trails are full even in off season December 23rd so there would be severe congestion if this was allowed to happen.
While I am usually careful in my shots to avoid people the person walking up the trail in this shot adds some scale to the scene that I liked and included him instead of cloning him.
Being it had started to drizzle again we were heading to the hotel but on the way by I saw Schnebly Hill Road and I explained to the wife it was a dirt road with scenic views that she didn’t have to leave the truck, she was all for it and off we went.
I took this with my D750 and Tamron SP 24-70mm 2.8 G2 Lens at 70mm 1/8s, f/11 ISO 100 processed in LR, PS +Lumenzia
