Not only did we run into the Tour de France support teams (luckily going the other way!) but everywhere else the cyclists are out and about in their lycra, looking lean and mean, and generally getting in the way! I have driven over 1000 kilometres this week, and so far have managed to not knock one off. It's not always easy! But, even so, I admire the fitness and the tenacity of these athletic bodies, and suspect that there are even more on the roads back home. It is obviously a great way to keep fit, and we need a lot more designated cycle ways!

I must also tell you where we were! A little village called Santenay, in the Beaune region. The wine they make here is special, according to Peter! The main restaurant is superb, the fountain in the square is lit up at night with many colours, and the Chambres d'Hotes we found in the square is just wonderful, if a little expensive!
