Rome! We have had a wonderful few days in Rome, with a group of people from Peter's old college. We have been meeting once a year for the last few years in interesting places, and exploring various aspects of that place. For some reason, this time, in Rome (where I have never been before!) we were exploring the Fascist regime's influences on the city. The group of people we were with are all fascinating people, and everyone wants to catch up with everyone else - Fascism was not necessarily more interesting than the people!! Consequently, although our guides were also fascinating, charming people, there was a huge amount of disorder in our days! We saw some interesting places, but these were generally not photographically inspiring - and it was impossible to take pictures of most places without the accompanying people and cars, so mostly I was trying for various impressions of Rome. And of course, we ate and drank copiously - 6 and 7 courses of Sicilian delicousnesses - with stacks of fat! And not very Vegan in content!

Located in the Foro Italico, an Italian sports complex that was created under the direction of Benito Mussolini, the Stadio dei Marmi is covered in faux Greco-Roman statues that owe more to fascism than to the classical period. The statues represent the different provinces of Italy.

I will catch up with you all later on today when I have come back to earth!!
