With all the rain that had been falling in central Wales during the time I was cycling, it was little surprise this dam, the highest on the Elan Valley, had so much water flowing through it. More than spectacular enough to cheer up a sodden cyclist.

Waterproofs are definitely necessary when cycle touring in Wales. Thanks to Polariswear for supplying awesome waterproof trousers and jacket. I wore the latter on an almost daily basis during my short tour of England and Wales.

Google maps led me onto an unpaved track through Central Wales, passing wind turbines and forested slopes on the way to the Elan Valley. It was exceedingly wet and I got the impression that it probably rains here most of the time!

I wasn't entirely sure if I was allowed to be cycling on this track through an area of wind turbines in Central Wales, but I had climbed uphill to get here in wet and windy weather and there was no way I was turning back.
