This one involved half a dozen scorpions around my tent, obviously attracted to the light from my head-torch while I was eating a bowl of spaghetti. I fortunately managed to put a timely end to their unwanted intrusion.

One of the most frightening rides of my life involved being driven at high speed by an armed police vehicle for 150km on a remote road back in the direction I had come. I ended up being deported from the country, politely, for no real apparent reason other than being told it was too dangerous for me to be cycling. Apparently I also didn't have relevant permission to be on the road I was on.
