American Bill Weir has clocked up many thousands of miles in Asia during numerous tours. We met in early 2006, close to the Chinese border with Vietnam. His advice over the Internet has been invaluable over the years. Bill seems to have no plans to stop touring on Bessie, his beloved Bruce Gordon bike.

French couple Natalie and Xavier had already been on the road nearly 3 years when I met them in Yunnan province, China, 2006. Our plan had been to ride through Tibet together, but Natalie had her passport stolen. We later met in Nepal and India. During the Big Africa Cycle I stopped to visit them in their home near La Rochelle. They dream to be back on the road.

My good friend Tim Brewer rode from England-Australia between 2006-2008. During this 30,000km journey he lost about 50kg in weight. We first met in India and parted ways several months later in western China. Tim has since ridden with me in Morocco.

Polish couple Pavo and Magda looked defeated when I met them in the Hindu-kush mountains of northern Pakistan in 2007. We cycled together, alongside Tim, across the border into China. They continued through Tibet, South East Asia, Australia and South America, completing a 3-year World tour.
