A different side to Saudi altogether. Too bad it's 1500km away from where I've lived in the country!

A great view here. I had considered camping, but with rubbish around I expected baboons and dogs later in the evening, and possibly rubbish discarding idiots as the road wasn't too far away. After the sun set I returned to the car and drove somewhere less scenic, but at least a spot that ensured a night without disturbance.

I didn't have much in the way of camping equipment, but the little stove and kettle came in great use!

A Cherovlet Spark worked out fine for this road trip. Had there been anyone else, a larger car and engine would have been necessary. Renting a 4x4 is expensive for one person. Several of the switchbacks were so steep this thing was using full power to get up the 30%+ gradients. On two nights I ended up sleeping in the car - one because there were too many mosquitoes outside, and the other because there were too many stray dogs and it was windy. It's easy to be a wimp and retreat to the comfort of a car when you have one!
