Bohemian Waxwing (Bombycilla garrulus) ~ Lunenburg, Nova Scotia

One of the most beautiful birds of winter in my opinion. These 'bohemians' do as their name suggest and move from place to place in large groups looking for berries. It is always such a pleasure to be fortunate enough to bump into a flock.

I realize this photo is not heart-shaped or Valentine's Day in any way, but it was photographed at a place called Kissing Bridge Rd!

Thanks for visiting!

Bohemian Waxwing (Bombycilla garrulus) ~ Dartmouth, Nova Scotia

I got a short glimpse of this beautiful bird the other day. I certainly hope to have another opportunity to photograph them this year. Lifer!

Cedar Waxwing (Bombycilla cedrorum) ~ Miner's Marsh, Nova Scotia

Refreshments can be tricky to come by when everything is frozen or covered in snow. Fortunately, snow itself will do the trick in a pinch. I found this cedar waxwing on a felled tree doing just that.

After the waxwing's refreshing snow cone, it was ready for something with a little more nutritional value - and color!
