Rough-legged Hawk (Buteo lagopus) - Lawrencetown, Nova Scotia

A rough-legged hawk catches and devours a vole near the Lawrencetown Beach. I do not use bait. The rodents are plentiful on these beaches and dunes. The snowy owls are close by for the same reason, and of course the harriers drop in from time to time. This was taken on a piece of ice on the water. Fortunatly he flew close enough to the shore that I could get a good look.

Thanks for visiting

Black-Capped Chickadee (Poecile atricapillus)
A chickadee seeks a moment of refuge from the rain. The autumn leaves are happy to accommodate the little one. I am heading to Florida for several weeks to spend time with my son, thus will be very sporadic in my "Flickring", I will certainly do my best to keep up. Thanks everyone for visiting!

A Northern Parula does some early morning exercises to begin his busy day of foraging for small insects and making life difficult for photographers by hiding in the shadows and moving quickly.

It was fun to see this guy dangle for a few moments, his body twisting around in half circles like a holiday ornament.

An eagle powers through some snow yesterday morning. As cold as it is, there is a certain stillness and peacefulness to the morning blanket that covers the province on these mornings.

I know...I know...no feathers or beaks. But this raccoon at Fort De Soto was just too cute. It was leisurly making its way up a tree when it peeked its head around and gave me this look.

Thanks for visiting!
