Óbidos is a medieval castle and walled town in Portugal. The location had been settled since roman and visigoth times. The walls were built by the moors sometime after 713 and were remodelled during the reign of King Dinis I (1279-1325). The keep was constructed by King Fernando I (1367-1383).
The town of Óbidos has grown out of the walls, but there are many inhabitants still living inside the walls (and many more tourists). This is a very well kept medieval town and castle. You can walk all around the walls.
