The light was hitting this Green Heron perfectly to separate it and its reflection from the background. Greens have lots of color and some interesting calls and antics. They can pull their neck in or extend it out to what seems like longer than its body. They often stand on low branches and remain still, waiting for a small fish to come within striking distance. Once prey is spotted they slowly begin to extend that magical neck and suddenly fire it forward, almost always successfully grabbing their prey. This one, on the other hand, decided it wanted its picture taken and took an irresistible pose for me. Thanks Greenie! (Butorides virescens) (Sony a1, 200-600 @284mm, f/5.6, 1/800 second, ISO 640)

I photographed this Dall Sheep ram for about 9 years. I watched him grow into a magnificent better then full curl ram.
This is a scan from a slide. The day I took this, I had put a roll of color print film in the camera.
I needed some prints and didn't want to wait for the slides to come back from Fuji.
Back then I NEVER shot print film!
Anyway, I got some really nice shots of the ram and then hurried to finish the roll.
I put in a roll of Fuji Velvia and got maybe 3 shots when he decided it was time to eat.
He moved off and Denali was no longer in the background.
I never shot print film again! :-) Live and learn!
PS - We now have more then 100 inches of snow in East Anchorage.
Going to be another late spring.
My daughter just sent me a photo of one of her roses that just bloomed outdoors.
I could hardly believe that she has a rose bush blooming
outside in January. She lives in Washington State.
