Gluepot Reserve, Waikerie, South Australia, Australia
The Bandy-bandy is a small, nocturnal burrowing snake that inhabits a wide variety of habitats throughout Eastern Australia. This snake is weakly venomous, and when threatened will form “hoops” to make itself look larger. This is the second Bandy-bandy I have seen, and my first in the arid landscape.
Photo taken with a large, off camera flash & diffuser.

A shot taken in late summer of 2019 presenting the wasp spider Argiope bruennichi.
This colourful orb-weaver being a grasshopper specialist builds it's net mainly in relativily low growing vegetation, mostly 20-70cm above ground level.
Out of three Argiope species ocurring in Europe it is the only one not bound to southerly climes, nonetheless being a thermophilic (warmth loving) species.
During the 20th century the wasp spider managed to extend it's range in Central Europe following the changing climate from a couple of isolated populations in thermically favoured refuges (Kaiserstuhl hills, larger Berlin area) to - literally - being all over the map.
In Germany for example they can now easily be found in every state and have established themselves as far north as Sweden and Norway.
