They say the new houses are built by "immigrants" which aren't immigrants so much as Ecuadorians who have gone to the US to work and then brought money home to build houses fo their families. The new building is not in the local vernacular (or nice). But so it is all over the world. Tried and tested methods and styles abandoned in favour of shit cinder block and bad design and construction that won't last. (Not saying the wooden house is good design - I think it's a shed.)
