To every ladle, add a light
This is an installation by Vancouver writer and broadcaster Bill Richardson, inside the old shopfront windows of his Edwardian house in Strathcona. There are 101 candles in 101 ladles for the 101 nights leading up to the solstice. Bill collected the steel ladles from thrift and other sources and hung one from the ceiling each evening. On the solstice they numbered 101 and the whole neighbourhood was invited in to light a candle and make a wish.
