Fast and wet and sloppy but I just had to capture the glowing red light, it was like an old log glowing in a fireplace, all shadows and reds.

Seems almost garish, but the yellow mounds really glow with an ancient light. For a while, the park called this spot the "Seabed Jungle" overlook but that was in more romantic days, and now the language is more technical: Yellow Mounds. Which is precisely how they manifest themselves here, topographically and geologically speaking. In the distance, you can see a strip of yellow mound (interior paleosols) weather at the base of the larger formation, but in many spots at Conata, the mounds are yellow with only a thin zone of red bleeding over the top, or a green-gray ashy layer.
