Local lakes begin to be stocked with fish in the next few weeks. Until then, higher water levels than usual and murky waters make fishing more difficult for migrating osprey. Fisherman's catches make for easier pickings for the osprey. This bird eventually dropped the crappie and flew off. Note the fishing line on the right of the photo.

The osprey used to eat fish near the lake. In the last few years, bald eagles commonly chase the osprey and take their catch. This bird perched with its fish and then ate it (took over an hour). A pleasant sight.
