Mulholland Point Light and remains of an old dock on Campobello Island, NB.

I am not sure why these old poles attract me so much, but they do, standing between flowers in the foreground and sunset in the background, all lovely and natural. A memento mori of sorts.

I am also not sure which album it belongs to, you see Canada and US in about equal measure. I put it in both.

Union Cove on Campobello Island, NB. Popes Folly island is straight ahead. It is already in the US. The boat is definitely still in Canada.

Mulholland Point Light on Campobello Island, New Brunswick, Canada. The light went into in 1885 to protect navigation through the Lubec Straight, a narrow channel separating Campobello Island from the mainland. It was decomissioned in 1963, after navigation lights on the newly built FDR bridge made it unnecessary. It is now part of the Roosevelt Campobello International Park. Interesting fact: the lighthouse had only three keepers in its nearly 80-year history. Its last keeper, A.F. Newman, served for 38 years.

Regardless of what the Flickr's map is saying, the lighthouse is in Canada, not in Lubec, Maine. But very, very close indeed.

Old Quebec is a very pleasant place, one of the most relaxing cities in North America. Terrasse Dufferin, a wide boardwalk at the edge of the upper town, overlooking the St. Lawrence River. The views of the river are magnificent, and the massive Chateau Frontenac hotel is equally impressive.
