A trip on Frank's "Pelly Barge" over the Pelly River to pick up a local. He's almost as old as me so we had a good talk.

Here is a close up of the "Pelly Barge." Beautiful sunny day for photography. When I did the Canol Road drive ten or twelve days later it was clouds, fog, rain and mud.

Here is the neat pedestrian walkway over the Pelly River. A great adaptation for the old pipeline bridge.

Here is the Pelly Barge operated by Frank from Ross River. It is a cable barge. You can drive your vehicle on to get to the Northern Section of the Canol Road. On this early trip I just checked out the area and the crossing but had not decided as yet to do the Canol Road. Hung around with Frank for awhile. Went on a trip over and back to pick up a hunter.

Arriving at the Pelly River which is actually at the edge of the Village of Ross River. This is the bridge the Americans built for the oil pipeline from Norman Wells on the Mackenzie River in the Northwest Territories. It is now a pedestrian bridge. I took a walk over to the other side. Then went as a passenger on Frank's "Pelly Barge" to the other side to pick up a local hunter and bring him back.
