Also known as Hericium novae-zealandiae or fungus icicles. These are apparently safe to eat tasting a bit like cauliflower. I found this close to the edge of the forest but maybe by now someone foraging for dinner has removed it. Another warm sunny day but they forecast a colder Friday.

I'm no expert on fungi ID but a lady walking past with her dog told me not to eat these! I do like mushrooms but I prefer the supermarket for safe supplies. Going to slow cook some lamb shanks today in Moroccan herbs and spices and a few mushrooms will go in with diced eggplant, shredded pumpkin, onions and kumara if there is any left.

I was down low to look at some fungi when this fantail flew in to see if I had disturbed some insects for his lunch. So close it was taken with a macro lens and well within my reach. No danger to it though as it is about 10 times faster than I am :) Sorry about the noise you will see if you click on it. Quite dark on the forest floor and needed higher ISO.
Cooler today and expecting rain later sent over from Australia.

So much rain here recently but it is all sunshine today. I'm glad it wasn't raining missiles here and hoping for peace elsewhere. Have a good week from Monday morning here.
