Hamid is a taxi driver who works at La Defense near Paris. I was taking a long exposure photo of a skyscraper with my camera literally on the ground when a taxi came along. The driver put his thumbs up, drove around me and parked nearby. When the photo was done I went up to thank him for not squashing me. Hamid said he admired people with a passion and patience to go with it. He compared photography to fishing in that way. He is talkative and while we were chatting, he wiped down his car. He says that people are too wary of each other and we should communicate more. He regrets that he doesn't know his neighbors even if they share the same lift every morning. We talked for about 20 minutes and then the customer he was waiting for turned up. Thanks Hamid for a great time!

I met Mathias when I was walking around town. We had a long conversation and I learned quite a lot about his life. He is currently unemployed but was trained and worked for a company that makes plastic moulds for the car industry and for motorbikes. He had a motorbike accident two years ago and lost a couple of fingers. Now he is a bit of a lonely man, I gathered that he is a bit marginal and lonely, not getting along very well with his family and with a bit of an unstable life. He is charming however and we had a good time chatting. Thanks Mathias.
