This odd apparatus is on the roof of the old Packard facility. I figured it was now nothing more than a hunk of rusting, decaying metal. When I stepped in front of it, I was shocked at the force of the wind silently screaming from it's cavernous mouth. I quickly, like a ninja, grabbed the edges to keep from being blown off the building, where I most certainly would have plunged to my untimely death. My coat instantly shredded and disappeared (strange, huh?), and the rest of my gear started to blow away, as you see clearly in the picture.

I barely escaped with my life!

Can you imagine how cool this would have looked if I had long flowing hair? Or even hair at all?

Thank you Ray, Ed, and Lou for saving my life by grabbing me and pulling me to safety.

After scraping my face across the sidewalk last week when my son used me as a surfboard, I decided this week it would be better to float a safe distance above any rough surfaces. Luckily for me I was able to find a dollar store that uses 100% PURE helium in their balloons, so it didn't take very many to provide the lift I needed.

I think I might use this technique for aerial photography as well. Balloon assisted floating flight fun facedown photography, or BAFFFFP for short.

Thank you Carly Clark for inspiring this idea today.

Happy Facedown Tuesday everyone!

We visited Greenfield Village for Holiday Nights when Amanda's choir was caroling there. It was cold. Very cold.

I composited the moon back into this image, it was too cool, being such a small sliver, to pass up, but washed out with the long exposure.

I'm going to keep it in the jar for a while. Sure does work good as a lantern and a night light.
