This photo was nearly ruined by the head to the lower right. A shot without the head did not turn out nearly as nice. Maybe the head helps balance the shot?

Another of those cases where I looked and the picture was obvious to me. This is part of the transition forest which was not touched by the Santiago Canyon Fire of 2007. I was very relieved to see that about half the Coulter Pine forest had been spared, though there were plenty that had been burned in the area behind me. I'll try to get photos of that later this week.
