The Alexander Sprint-bodied Mercedes-Benz 709 became the Stagecoach Group standard minibus, although other types came with acquired businesses. K118 XHG was new to Ribble Motor Services and carries branding for the Zippy minibus network that had been acquired from United Transport and competed with Preston Buses in the Preston area. This digital recreation is based on a preserved AA buses Alexander Sprint photographed at the Scottish Bus Museum in 2019, but please note the inaccuracies mentioned in the comment below (19-Dec-20).

For this second fictional Arriva Portugal image, I've used a source picture taken on the Portuguese Island of Madeira (I've no wish to suggest any 'goings on' on the garden island, it's simply that I've not yet visited mainland Portugal). In reality the vehicle depicted is Horarios do Funchal (City of Funchal) MD-92-42, a 1986 Camo-bodied Volvo B10M-55. This style of body is loosely reminiscent of various Swiss and Dutch bodybuilders. Note the triple yellow 'cheat' lines, which are a distinguishing feature of the Arriva Portugal livery (04-Sep-11).

This is the same (fictional) bus depicted in the last image, updated to depict the third-generation Stagecoach livery – in practice, an evolution of the previous well-liked ‘rolling ball’ style. It has taken me a while to warm to this livery but I concede that, on the right vehicle, it can look quite smart. I remain unconvinced about the yellow version used on express coaches. Thanks again to Keith McGillivray for the base image (02-Dec-23).

As part of the Stagecoach Group, South West Trains is well placed to operate its own rail replacement services, using vehicles mostly cascaded from front-line work with its bus operating subsidiaries. This fictional East Lancs-bodied Volvo isn't a typical Stagecoach type but could, perhaps, have been acquired second-hand for South West Trains-branded duties (11-Jun-15).

Northern Ireland's principle bus services remain in state ownership, perhaps because no takers were expected at the time that the mainland National Bus Company was privatised. That said, it has been suggested that Stagecoach did express an interest in either or both of the two state-owned Northern Ireland bus operators. This fictional image shows what an Ulsterbus Leyland Tiger might have looked like in the original Stagecoach livery (02-Jun-12).
