Mammoet BV is a Dutch heavy lifting and transport specialist of worldwide renown. Its UK subsidiary Magnaload was rebranded as Mammoet some years ago and the predominately red livery replaced by the current black and red scheme. The trademark symbol represents a Mammoet, a large extinct mammal related to the modern elephant. The company specialises in lifting and moving heavy industrial plant by road, sea and (in some parts of the world) by rail. This fictional image, based on Right Move International's Volvo FH16 is, perhaps, not representative of the work normally undertaken by the company but is interesting nonetheless (28-Sep-13).

As well as an extensive railway system, the Manchester Ship Canal Company operated a road haulage fleet in this distinctive green livery with white front panels. An interesting feature was the advertising slogans carried on vehicle headboard. Commer TS3 tractor units feature predominately in a recent magazine article about the operator; and I have used a little artistic licence in adapting a three-axle TS3 flatbed to represent one of the company's vehicles (21-Jan-16).

This is a substitute for an Iveco S-Way in the same livery that that didn’t work out. Whilst perhaps an unlikely choice for Manners Transport, I hope that it does justice to the company’s smart livery. Established in 1972, the Alnwick-based and family-owned business specialises in recovering and recycling combine harvesters and other large agricultural machinery; and also undertakes general haulage work with its superbly-presented fleet of DAFs and Scanias. Thanks to Keith McGillivray for the base image (13-Nov-22).

Established in 2001, Felixstowe-based Maritime Transport is the UK’s leading container transport company. From operating 136 trucks from five depots, by 2015 it had grown operating 1,400 trucks from 24 depots across the UK. The current fleet comprises DAF, Scania and Volvo, with a large recent intake of New Generation Scanias, all smartly presented in the company’s striking livery - possibly the best white-based livery around. A fleet list can be downloaded from the company’s website (03-Feb-19).

Martime Transport was an early UK customer for Scania’s New Generation range of trucks. This isn’t an exact replica - I didn’t have a reference image to hand – and there are some significant differences in livery, a consequence of the base image used. Also, I believe that Martime’s Scanias are a mix of R450s and S500s, whereas this is the more powerful S580. Thanks to Martin Vonk for the base image (28-Jun-19).
