This short-lived BR 'General' livery was not well-liked. I'm not sure how it fitted into the BR portfolio, other than as a default scheme for traction that didn't fit into a specific business sector. Of course it only required a more liberal application of yellow paint to transform it into the much-respected 'Dutch' scheme adopted by the Civil Engineers division; and it was the later scheme that 50015 actually carried briefly at the end of its BR career. Once again, the source image is of sister locomotive Indomitable, photographed at Oxenhope on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway last weekend (30-May-12).

This second rendition of the London & South East 'Jaffa Cake' livery depicts an earlier style of diesel-electric multiple unit, derived from the Northern Ireland Railways Class 80. The destination 'Charing Cross' reminds of the English Electric-powered Class 205s DEMUs that whistled their way passed me whilst crossing the Hungerford Bridge in London in the early 1980s.

Very few locomotives carried this short-lived Infrastructure livery, which was ultimately replaced by the so-called ‘Dutch’ grey and yellow scheme. 31116 carried Rail Celebrity nameplates and Bescot depot plaques with a non-standard blue background. There is a minor inaccuracy in this digital representation regarding the position of the high-intensity headlight (25-Nov-22).

This rear view of a HST power car shows the auxiliary driving cab, which I believe was unique to the prototype vehicles. The yellow end, like the rest of the livery, is a fictional addition, as are most of the lights on either side of the gangway. Whilst buffer-fitted at both ends, I don't believe there was any intention to use these power cars gangway-end first, rather the cab was provided for depot and possibly 'light engine' movements (23-Aug-13).

The Sulzer-engined BRCW Class 26 is widely regarded as BR’s best Type 2 design, outliving its updated Class 27 cousin by several years, albeit latterly confined to freight duties. Thus, whilst many received the grey ‘large logo’ freight livery, it is unlikely that any received the blue passenger-sector version depicted here. This fictional image is based on Barrow Hill-based 26007 (the pioneer D5300) photographed at Oxenhope on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway (26-Nov-21).
