The Dutch were very resourceful in the immediate post-war years in reactivating their decimated public transport system. Second-hand buses were acquired from any available source, supplemented by some remarkable rebuilds of former military vehicles. This Haagsche Tramweg Maatschappij (Hague Tramway Company) example is based on converted Chevrolet Canadian Military Pattern (CMP) truck, which survives in a plain grey livery in the care of the Haags Transport Museum in The Hague. I've used a little artistic licence to dress it up in the rather more attractive livery carried by the preserved HTM Chausson, which resides in the same museum. Similar, improvised buses on Austin K2 chassis were described as Bellewagens but I'm unsure whether this term was specific to the Austins (22-Apr-12).
