The EM2s were the first electric mainline passenger locomotives in the country. Planned by the LNER, construction did not take place until 1953 under the direction of British Railways. It is interesting to speculate what they would have looked like in LNER livery. This fictional rendition depicts the premier member of the class in the apple green livery that was re-introduced after the austere wartime black scheme depicted in the previous image (27-Aug-11).
