User / northernblue109 / Ribble Motor Services: Leyland/MCW Olympic (digital representation)

Ribble Motor Services of Preston was a long-standing and prestigious Leyland customer - it was quite literally a showcase for Leyland products on its own doorsteps. Thus when Leyland launched its underfloor-engined, integrally-constructed Olympic bus in 1951, it was no surprise that Ribble was an early and significant user - as it was with the Royal Tiger, which succeeded the Olympic in the home market.

Ribble's livery was a deep Cherry Red with ivory relief, the later being reduced and ultimately eliminated altogether on single-deckers. Like Southdown, the company acquired an enviable reputation for maintenance and turnout standards - many Ribble vehicles were to see long service lives with second and third owners (29-Jan-10).
