Coras Iompair Eireann (literally Ireland's Transport System) was created in 1945 by merger of the Great Southern Railway of Ireland and the Dublin United Transport Company. The new company adopted the DUTC duo-tone green livery and 'flying snail' emblem (but without the lettering previously incorporated on the latter). The combined fleet was predominantly but not exclusively made up of Leyland vehicles. It included at least one AEC Q-Type with bus-style body (probably by Park Royal) incorporating the traditional Irish roof-mounted luggage rack. This fictional BRCW-bodied version could have been the GSR vehicle, depicted elsewhere in this collection, after transfer of the latter's fleet to the new company. I'm grateful to Shane Conway for suggesting an appropriate ex-GSR registration number (07-Dec-09).
