With thanks to Veronica. I held onto my lovely old Nikon F1.2 and partnered it with a tilt mount for the Sony. This camera is only 12 megapixels!!!!! It's a lovely little camera and I have a review of it coming soon.

Sometimes I stare up at the ceiling and gaze in wonder at our DIY Ikea lampshade. It has a repeat pattern series of semi circular cut outs and casts this amazing shadow on the ceiling which looks like a human iris. And after some short thought, I bought a second copy intending to use it on a fashion shoot.

I finally got round to using it as a gobo on this shoot. So, the Yongnuo bog standard strobe was positioned to fire through the lampshade mounted on two tripods via clothes pegs, camera left @ approx 1/16th and slightly behind Olha - pointing at her, the lavender and the wall. In front of Olha and to camera immediate right is a ring light (constant). Because I am not shooting through it, you are not capturing the trademark ring light, (but it does feature on others). You can find other tech info on the right.

We had a great shoot in London just before Christmas with Francesca, but one thing that troubled with this image and why I spent quite a while in PS/LR was the palette. Here was a -mainly- pink dress on a mainly carpet of yellow leaves with strong green, orange, blue and yellow notes of winter sun in the background. On the day, the carpet of leaves was too alluring, and I knew as I was shooting that only photoshop and/or Lightroom could save the day. So, I have gone for a slightly muted palette behind and allowed only mainly greens (sort of complimentary) to come to the fore. Fairly cold conditions so kudos to Francesca for shooting in fairly thin material.
